Endurance

This week marks the release of an album of prayers called Endurance. Mankind has been singing prayers to God from the beginning of time, and so it continues with this offering. The prayer below is from the collection and is entitled Deliver Me

O Lord, that I may live
That I may live and breathe, childlike
That I may see through the veil
That I would be dewy-eyed
Deliver me
Deliver me from myself

Pour upon me the cleansing love
That flows to self forgetfulness
Lay upon me the hands of healing
That touch a soul of meekness

O Lord, forgive my ways
Forgive my scanty and meager ways
Deliver me
Deliver me from myself

O Lord, hear my prayer
Hear my prayer of lost and weakness
Hear my pray, hear my prayer
Hear what burdens lay heavy on my heart
Hear the voice that speaks from deep in my soul
Deliver me
Deliver me from myself

May Notes

Friday, May 03, 2019 is the release date for the Endurance album. This collection of prayers has been on the back burner for seven years, and now they can finally breathe and have life. This is a quiet release in that I've not made a big splash about it's drop date. I know that this offering will not be for everyone, but for those of you who are fond of mediative prayer, my hope is that you can experience a deeper and more meaningful moment through these expressions of faith.

May's song, Deliver Me, is the second featured song from the project. The lyric above is self explanatory so there's no need for me to elaborate any more other than to say that it reflects a moment of prayer, the conversation, on my end, as it happened.

As I've been sharing what I'm reading this year, last month's book was called The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Heschel. I was taken with the in-depth look at what the Sabbath means to the Jewish community, and how I might grow to have a more profound sense of the day. I loved this quote, "The meaning of the Sabbath is to celebrate time rather than space... to turn from the results of creation to the mystery of creation."

I'm looking forward to getting into rehearsals for the summer run. Live dates begin the first weekend in June at Karen's Place, in Doylestown, PA. I can't wait to see you all!
